Top 5: Obscure Classes, Spring 2010

by Erica Rodriguez on November 16, 2009

It’s that time of year again for everyone. Sitting stone-faced on the ASU registration page, refreshing the class lists, hoping for someone to drop so that you don’t have to attend class at 7:30 a.m.. General education classes can wait — try spicing things up with a few obscure options:

  1. Signs of Aliens (FMS 370) — Can’t get much more obscure than this.
  2. Puppetry Workshop (THP 512) — Become your very own Jim Henson and study the use of puppets in education, performance and art, no strings attached.
  3. Elvis (MUS 354) — The King of Rock n’ Roll has his very own class. Learn how he influenced music and culture day and maybe even about his sequined jumpsuits.
  4. Witchcraft and Heresy in Europe (REL 374) — Vampires are everywhere these days, so why not study another mythical being?
  5. Mixed Cardio (EXW 105) — Take part in golf, aquatics, aerobics and racket sports. A great class to stay fit and do what you normally do at the SRC for credit (and it’s offered online!).

i believe it is jim henson who is the master of modern puppetry and father to our time’s most beloved gang of sewn-together rag shop leftovers, the muppets.
