National Shrimp Scampi Day,
April 29
We at SPM realize some of our readers (and maybe even some of our editors) are vegetarians and might not want to participate in today’s festivities, which include the buying and eating of copious amounts of shrimp scampi.
That’s fine. Really. Even some meat eaters stray when it comes to eating shrimp. It’s not for everyone.
One thing meat eaters and veggies can agree on, though, is the great, buttery, smooth and delicious taste of scampi. Is that the actual way to phrase that? We don’t know. But it’s a great day to plow through plates of shrimp covered in scampi sauce.
A Taste of Greek Festival,
May 1- May 3
Looking for a new and exciting way to spend time this weekend? Try the Taste of Greek Festival, at the Tempe Town Lake. This isn’t to say playing “Call of Duty 4” all day and not showering is a waste of a good Saturday, but the weather will be great, so get out there and Greek-it-up!
Featured at the event will be classic Greek food, wine, beer, dance performances and carnival rides to keep those bratty kids of yours entertained while you munch on a gyro.
Tickets are only $2, and the event starts at 11a.m. Friday through Sunday.
Stomp,
May 5 – May 10
The award-winning stage performance “Stomp” returns to Gammage Auditorium beginning May 5 and ending May 10. Fans of the show will be delighted to find the show is just as awesome as ever, and rookies will have their minds blown.
The show is an auditory experience like none other. A group of 8 people perform with odd and off the wall instruments such as garbage cans, brooms, boxes and even Zippo lighters.
Intrigued? You should be. Tickets can be purchased through the Gammage box office. Call them at 480-965-3434.
