CD Review: Negative charge

by Lauren Cusimano on April 22, 2009

4/5 stars

“Negative Charge” is rockabilly legend The Quakes’ seventh studio album, which was released on Orrexx Records.

“Negative Charge” has found a way to combine hardcore psychobilly with ’80s-style neo-billy to create a classic Quakes sound on a new album.

Tracks like “Time Wasters” and “Just Rock” are ear candy, easily pleasing listeners and getting things moving. The favorable tracks are “Raining All My Life,” as well as “Seven Seas Alone,” the dynamic opener.

This is the first album with new drummer Juan Carlos Larios, also of The Limit Club. All in all, The Quakes are “greakes.”
