Editor’s Note: “It’s Alive!”

by lburke on April 15, 2009

Yaaaaaaaay! Our site is up and running! I know you’re very, very impressed, as are we.

Anyway, revel in the beauty of the newly designed site and keep in mind that this is just the beginning. We plan to add blogs and keep making this thing bigger and better all the time. Check back once a week to see what new schemes and themes we’ve cooked up to keep you, the ASU student body, entertained.

If you aren’t already following us, take a second to follow SPM on Twitter at http://twitter.com/StatePressMag. We’ll keep you updated on additions to our site as well as cool new stories.

This week at SPM, we talk about overachievers — you know, the students who do it all and make it look easy. Or at least make it look doable, which is a feat, considering most of the time one paper due in a class can seem overwhelming to the average student (or maybe that’s just me). We even list a few tips on how to become a high achiever yourself, because, why not, you can always dream, guys. Or, if the advice listed seems too hard or daunting, start small. You could just start by getting up on time and attending class; that’s a step in the right direction. Sad but true, go-getters probably aren’t still in bed at two in the afternoon.

Even better, kick-start your career and apply to work at SPM for the Fall 2009 semester. With openings for writers, photographers, a photo editor and assistant editor there are all kinds of opportunities here at SPM. Download the application at http://www.asuwebdevil.com/employment and drop it off at the Matthews Center Basement on the Tempe campus or email it to Claire Lawton at claire.lawton@asu.edu. We are always looking for students to join the SPM family and work with us while they get experience, beef up their resumé and gain clips in the wild world of journalism. And yes, we’re really as fun as we seem.

So, to sum all this up, the Website’s up! Come join all the fun already and write/take photos/boss us around as an editor!
Don’t forget to send us your, thoughts comments and disses about the new site, we relish a good challenge.
